Still waiting

AF is taking her sweet time again (thank you, Lupron). I went back to my October calendar and looked at exactly how late she was with that cycle (I am usually like clockwork). Well, she was due on Sunday and didn't get here until late Friday night. So, if all goes similarly this cycle, I am putting off the trip to Colorado by almost a week, which may help with getting DH out there in time to give me the trigger shot, but won't help with having my mom here to watch the dogs (I'll call in the dog sitter, I hope). What a pain. So, Brett keeps hoping that she will hold off longer so that he can make it out there for the shot, and part of me agrees with him, but I have had bad AF symptoms since Saturday and am cranky and just want to get this all over with!

Besides that, nothing much here. Just finished watching part of the Today show and getting angrier and angrier at the reaction to the mom of 14. To be honest, I struggle with what I am actually angry at. First, no one should be able to tell her that she can't have more kids if she wants them, even if she had 6 already and is a single mom (who cares, really). All that I think that information should have done was tell them that they shouldn't be putting 6 back in because she's already proved that her uterus works well enough (5x over). Though, I am confused about how she was able to afford treatment, etc when she can't even afford food for her 6 other children (food stamps). However, the only thing that is really ticking me off now is how this is going to impact my life in the near future. All they said all day today, repeatedly, is "but the guidelines say only 1 or 2, no more, in a woman under 35"....they said this about 10 times during a 15 minute segment. That is true, without other issues. I'm under 35 (well, not by much anymore) and several times I've put 4 very pretty embryos back in...but I've never had a baby, and have had several (many) failed IVF's already, so should I only be allowed to transfer 1 or 2 now? If I wait another month and transfer late June instead of in May, when we are hoping to do our FET, then I'll be over 35 and how many can we transfer then? Doctors really do need to be able to retain some wiggle room in these guidelines and I pray that we never adopt actual laws dealing with these issues...that would just be scary. Now, I'm just sick of all this media coverage of that crazy woman, can we concentrate on more important things?

The whole media stuff over the octuplets is crazy. At least they quit saying "the doctors IMPLANTED six embryos" and say "transfer" now. I mean, seriously-if they could implant embryos I'd have seen two lines by now.
You're right, there should always be wiggle room for individual situations, but that woman's RE clearly was out to lunch at her transfer.
I hope AF cooperates and shows up in a timely fashion for you!

I'm sorry that AF is causing you extra stress. Lupron did the same thing to me, was quite late and then started on the weekend when I had no ability to do suppression check. It stressed me out big time. I hope she arrives at the perfect time.

I wouldn't worry about the guidelines on how many to "implant", I don't think the issue will be resolved in that quick of a timeframe. I hope that you'll be way pg by time they resolve that. Hugs

Sorry AF is not on time. It is usually the case. Wear some white and put on your favorite panties! I agree 100% about octogon mom. When I got my opinion at the Brigham in Boston, Dr. W&F was very strict about the # of embryos they transfer. She said all depends on the quality but most likely I will only get to transfer back 2!!! I have had 4 failed cycles...I would think by now we can transfer 3 at least. I too am wondering if I should wait until after my bday in May...but I will only be 34. Drop the pups off at my house...they can play w/ Maisy.

Hey Fashionably - I like that - Octagon Mom! I am so sick and tired of the news coverage up here as well although they are still saying "implanted" and not transferred which irritates me to no end. If they had figured out how to "implant" embryos than don't you think the success rates would be higher than 30%??

Darn AF - it's always that way isn't it? Hopefully it will show up SOON (DID YOU HEAR THAT AF??) so you can get this show on the road.

See you in Denver!

Sorry the witch is messing with you. I always hate when I can "feel" her coming on, but she takes days for it to happen....

That octuplet lady is just nuts. I figure as CA residents we might as well help pay for her kids since we can't seem to have our own. I wish the whole story would just go away.........

Stupid period. Only disappears before the cycle. it is almost a guarantee.

that story about the 8 babies makes me very upset. She is clearly crazy and I think her doctor was testing shit on her. I'll bet she got to cycle for free towards the end if she did stuff for him and try meds. She went on the news for him. She is creepy and he is shady.

schoolie was so annoyed by her too.

The lady is crazy...I heard from a friend that she actually got a big settlement from a back injury she got while at a job and used the money for IVF...I'm sure those 8 babies did wonders for her back.

Poor babies.

I hope AF shows her face soon!

For AF, plan on an out of town get away where you will get a massage and have your own hot tub in the room. And wear white pants. How come AF messes with us so much? AUGH!

The octuplets mom thing is crazy. I want them to interview her RE. Really. I just don't understand his thinking and want to hear it before they start passing laws when he just might be crazy too.
