My cup runeth over

So, you probably guessed it. Its twins! We saw two little sacs, two little fetal poles, and two little heartbeats today. I am a little in shock, excited, freaked out, worried about my little girl and how this is all going to affect her, you name it. I really thought it was one! Really really! So, I have a lot of things to think about.

Unfortunately, I talked to a friend who has 11 month old twins and she scared me to death. She said Teagan will never be just Teagan again, now she will be just the twins' sister. She said that everyone will look past her to see the twins and ignore her. I was close to crying. Then she told me I will be so sick in the first trimester that I won't be able to chase after Teagan and then I'll be so tired in the third trimester that again I won't be able to chase after Teagan. I tried to get off the phone...why say such things now? So, I am trying to be rational and excited. I know this isn't easy but we've been blessed! 2 babies!!!!

Anyway, still early and lots of hurdles but there it is...
Soon to be a big sis:

Nice supportive friend :) Sure those things may happen, but Teagan will also be the big sister to two siblings, and have much to teach them. She will have special outings with mom or dad or family, and get to do things first, because she is bigger. She'll be ok, because she has great parents that will make sure to make her feel special.

And you'll be ok too. It's exciting!! Congrats!

Just so you know I am 21 months pregnant with twins and have not any issues with being sick once!

Sure I have been more tired but that is it. Everyone is different! Don't let anyone rain on your blessing-I think twins are great news!!

Wow! Congrats! And, everyone is different...you may not have a stitch of morning sickness! And, no one will look past your little girl...the babies just bring MORE love into the family. She will love being a big sister. Again...congrats!!

My sister is similar to your friend... always saying things that cause me to panic a bit. Then I just step back and realize that this experience is different for everyone, and she can't define how things will go for us. Hang in there, and CONGRATS!!! What a blessing!

Don't you just love well intentioned "ass-vice" from friends?!! Ugh...please try and relax and realize that her situation WILL not be the same as yours. You are going to make it and Teegan is going to be just fine. She'll be extra special because she'll be mommy's big girl. Take care...oh and CONGRATS!!!

YAY!!!! I'm beyond excited for you. That's such great news. And I'd stop talking to that friend for awhile. Not what you need to hear and I honestly don't think it has to be the truth. You'll just have to figure out ways to continue to make Teagan feel special and like an individual. And I'm sure you'll be able to handle that just fine. Don't get yourself worried out it...this is so exciting.

I'm delurking to post. First, congratulations!
I had my twins when my oldest was 22 months. She loves her sisters. She isn't just their older sister. She is the big girl, Mommy's big girl, Isabella, my first girl, you name it not just their older sister. I wasn't sick at all in the first trimester but was tired in the last, but aren't all pregnant women? ;)
I spend time alone with my older one also. It helps to have one on one time.
Shame on your friend for raining on your parade. I'm happy that are blessed twice more!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH WOW!!!!!!

HAPPY HAPPY Times!

OK, I know she's your friend, but REALLY? Even if that were true, who says that?

People have twins after having one all of the time. I have a fraternal twin in my class that has an older sibling. You can do this!

I read twin blogs religiously when I was pregnant, and somewhat now. I think everyone has different experiences. I remember being jealous of other twin moms who floated through pregnancy with a breeze.

I could totally do three if I didn't work. Gladly. It's tiring yes, but it's doable and so worth it! In fact, I'm not sure that we won't use our embryos for an FET one day.

Teagan will be an awesome big sister!

Congrats! I had a feeling it was two! :)

I'm sorry your friend said those things to you. Everyone has a different experience. Yours doesn't have to be the same as hers!!

A friend that I met during this IVF journey on a board always tells me, she'd rather have her hands full than empty! I always tell myself that when I feel overwhelmed. You will do great!!

I had a feeling that there were two in there! Congrats! If you ever want to talk twin or have any questions, let me know :) I have a lot of positive things to say :) :)

Congrats on the twins!!! My sister-in-law has a 5-year-old daughter and twin 3-year-olds (also all IVF babies), and did not experience what your friend described at all. In fact, I think the older child feels even more special once the twins were born, since she got to be a big sister to TWO babies!
